Current Projects

UASI has unique opportunities to collaborate with NASA’s missions best minds and participate in various educational outreach activities through university programs in various disciplines, including Earth and space science, aerospace engineering, aeronautics, radiation science and technology, human health and performance in space, and space materials.

These are few of the current Space missions that UASI funded and continue to support.

Aspera

Aspera (a NASA SmallSat)

The Aspera mission is studying galaxy evolution with a space telescope barely larger than a mini fridge. The telescope will allow researchers to observe galaxy processes that have remained hidden from view until now.

OREX

OSIRIS-APEX (extended mission of OSIRIS-Rex)

The goal of the mission was to collect a sample from near-Earth asteroid 101955 Bennu (formerly known as 1999 RQ36) and then bring the sample to Earth.

GUSTO

GUSTO (a NASA Explorer Balloon Payload)

The GUSTO (Galactic / Extragalactic ULDB Spectroscopic Terahertz Observatory) mission is a high-altitude balloon mission that carry an infrared telescope to measure fine-structure line emission from the interstellar medium.

CatSat

CatSat (a student led SmallSat Project)

CatSat is a 6U CubeSat being built and tested by University of Arizona students, faculty, and staff. Launch is provided by NASA’s CubeSat.

Pandora

Pandora (a NASA SmallSat)

Pandora mission to study stars and exoplanets continues toward flight.
